What We Do
MOTHERBOARD hosts exhibitions, workshops and long-term collaborative laboratories for artistic, ecological and speculative practices and collective imagination.
These formats unfold as temporary constellations of research, production and encounter, operating across different temporalities and collective processes.
Practice & Research Fields
MOTHERBOARD develops research-based exhibitions and laboratories that investigate questions of care, embodiment, ecological entanglement and speculative world-making through projects such as RADICAL CARE, WILDERNESS ALLIANCES, QUEER ANATOMY and WICKED FUTURES & THE BOARD OF IMAGINATION.

We host research and embodied learning formats such as SHARING SESSIONS, BANQUET OF BECOMING, CAREAMIC and GROWING TOGETHER — from situated practices of knowledge exchange, relational experiences and performative dinners to earth-based workshops and woodland walks. Across this field, we engage processes of unlearning dominant and patriarchal structures and recovering suppressed or forgotten relations. Together, these formats open a shared field of making, learning and becoming. You are invited to join, participate or co-create.
Initiation
MOTHERBOARD was initiated in 2021 in Vienna by artist and curator Stephanie Winter as part of her artistic practice. It continues to evolve as a collaborative platform shaped through ongoing contributions from artists, curators and practitioners across disciplines.

Rooted in ecological practices of terrestrial kinship and more-than-human alliances, MOTHERBOARD grows through an evolving network of human and non-human relations.
